Can someone please explain how wounded troops are determined?  As an example, I sent 95,000 troops to defend someone's stronghold.  We lose and I have to heal 167,000 troops???

Usually They are some % Of the Troops You send. I don't know why You had to heal 167K Troops when u sent only 95K

Smaller scale, but at the bottom of the report it says the following.  793 of your troops were injured in the battle! 1326 of them have been reassigned as reinforcements, and are awaiting treatment in the infirmary.

Well the response to the ticket was that it's supposed to work this way.  I send 95,000 troops...they die....and I have to heal 167,000.  I do not understand at all.

In some kinds of battles, your troops will die. The most common of these is attacking cities and strongholds.

The other way your troops can die is if your infirmary is full when your marching parties come back with wounded. Once your infirmary is full, all other wounded troops will die until you clear it out. Troops that're currently healing don't take up infirmary space.

You likely had troops you needed to heal already and let your infirmary get too full.

1 troop is not the same as 1 reinforcement. You need more reinforcement to convert for higher level troops. 

Eg. For level 14 troops I need about 5.8 reinforcement for 1 troop but for level 12 troop I only need 3.9 reinforcements.

So if I lose 33k lvl 14 troops in a skirmish I would get 191.4k wounded reinforcements.
If I lose 33k lvl 12 troops however I would only have 128.7k wounded.
